Grove on Monday 25th February. This workshop
“Making Myths” will help poets move away from well-worn paths to find “the
hidden, the alien, the myth”. Poets cited: Li Po, Joy Harjo, Oodgeroo, John
Tranter, Luke Davies, Kate Llewellyn, Tom Shapcott, Alison Clark. 1.00pm start. All welcome!

Our Prose class on Friday, 22nd February
continues with Worldwide Short Fiction, looking at US writer Raymond Carver.
The class will read his short story “They’re not your husband” from Will You Please be Quiet, Please.
Writing exercises and discussion will revolve around “minimalism and the
metaphorical frame” in Carver’s work.
Further into the year, we will be looking at Carver's other short stories from What we talk about when we talk about love and Short Cuts.
Workshop Venue: Fremantle Arts Centre, 1 Finnerty St, Freo. Room 2 Upstairs North Wing.

First Prose class for the year commences on
Friday, 8th
February with Helen Hagemann. This series, looking at “Worldwide Short
Fiction”, will gradually introduce traditions that will enhance wider
references in your work. As a springboard
for the year, the class will read fables, including the story of Blue Beard. Writing exercises,
discussion and revision of the short story, citing The Short Story, Eds. Stone, Packer & Hoopes.
